The Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band is a new ensemble launching in September 2026 for experienced woodwind, brass and percussion players seeking the opportunity to perform more challenging wind band repertoire within a focused performance ensemble.
Under the direction of Musical Director Nick Birch, the band will explore a wide range of advanced repertoire and present a programme of concerts, festival performances and special musical projects throughout the year.

Who Can Join?
We welcome experienced woodwind, brass and percussion players from Nantwich and the surrounding area.
- No auditions
- Intended for players performing at approximately Grade 6 standard or above
- Open to both existing and new members
- Membership and vacancies managed by our Musical Director

When: Monday evenings, 7:45pm – 9:15pm (term time only)

The Symphonic Wind Band is intended to perform repertoire typically associated with advanced community and symphonic wind bands.
This may include:

- Major concert works
- Festival programmes
- Film and media music
- New commissions and premieres
- Special project performances
Programmes will be selected to provide an engaging, rewarding and musically challenging experience for members and audiences alike.
There will typically be three-four performances per year, including a spring and summer concert and participation in the National Concert Band Festival.

Membership of the Symphonic Wind Band includes:
- Weekly rehearsals during term time
- A focused and rewarding rehearsal environment

As the band operates with a balanced instrumentation and defined membership, regular attendance at rehearsals and performances is expected wherever possible.

Subscriptions help cover music, venue hire, insurance and other running costs.
